This post is Part 3 of the Home Organizing Series

Treat Yourself

Nothing makes budgeting more miserable than going from home to work and back again just to pay the bills all the time. This is part of why people tend to overspend. They indulge without planning. One built it fail-safe for your budget is to set aside a certain amount for you to indulge yourself with. It doesn’t have to be a lot and it doesn’t need to be fancy, It just needs to be enough to indulge in one simple thing that you enjoy doing, eating, or seeing.

Organize your bills

  • Find out what bills fluctuate ( like your water and electricity).
  • Determine how you can control those fluctuations.
  • Note which bills will devastate your credit or livelihood and prioritize them.
  • Note what bills are excess bills which are services you can live without.
    • Take a serious look at your grocery list. A lot of waste goes into feeding yourself food-like substances that don’t keep you nourished and full. They are often also not healthy and contribute to health problems. More plants, less process. Take some time to truly change your taste preferences.
    • Learn budget meals that are quick and healthy.
    • Prioritize your goals.
  • Save every penny for your emergency fund.

Setting a Household Budget

Organize and Prioritize debt

Note your debts. First, organize it from the smallest amount owed to the largest. Contact the companies in charge of your debts to discuss your options and pay off your smaller debts as soon as possible, depending on your debt size, to allow yourself to focus on the larger debts. Pay more than your minimum on your debts. Crunch the numbers and give yourself a goal to pay your debt off and do your best to stick to it without creating more debt.

What is your debt from? Can you prevent building more debt on top of that? Use cash mostly and credit minimally.
